I think I have had a fieldfare visiting my garden today.  I have taken photos but they aren't very clear.  I went online to identify the bird and the nearest was a fieldfare which are on red status apparently.  I have emailed the RSPB and described it.  As I live in a town garden, we don't get many exotic birds ...today we have also had a bluetit !

Chris - lucky you...I had a look on Google and don't think I've ever seen one.  Let us know what the RSPB say about it.  For the last couple of weeks we've had a few long-tailed tits visiting our bird table in the front garden.  I think these are the cutest little things. Kiss

I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning, just not how they apply to me.

Not heard anythhing from the RSPB, but he is acting true to description in that he is very aggressive and keeps having a go at the chief blackbird!

Saw a good one today,

Since the snow we have been putting out extra feed for the birds.   We have had seagulls buzzing the starlings as some of them fly away with a morsel.

Usually the starlings scatter when the gulls do the swoop, but today I looked out to see a flock of starling giving chase to a gull.  Just wish I had my camera handy, as the Gull ducked and dived the flock was hard on its tail. Quite a sight.

It is the RSPB's Big Garden Bird Watch this weekend - you watch the birds in your garden or whatever for an hour and send them a list of what you see.  If you send it by email they then send you the results of the count.  It is quite nice to do, but we have found that when we sit down to watch them, they never come, and as soon as the hour is up, there they all are again!   Someone must have told them!  laugh
