Nor I.  Anytime I've used Kwik Fit they have always had to phone Motability and get a job number before they can repair or replace tyres or exhausts and I'm sure they also have to provide the registration number so not sure how they were able to fiddle - shocking though.

I'd be sued for libel if I were to say what I really think about KF Shocked

If the reports are true....then KF will have to start sacking people in order to retain their lucrative Motability contract.

Call me an old cynic if you will....but there's always a fiddle when money is involved Undecided

I only came across the Scottish article by chance but I suspect the abuse is nationwide Huh?

No wonder us Scots get accused of being tight fisted  laugh laugh laugh  Honestly we really are a generous lot Kiss Kiss Grin Grin Grin  You're probably right Gerry, it probably is nationwide and when I think about it, it is open to abuse.  No doubt garages who service our cars could do the same - I always think it's a bit like writing a blank cheque when we drive in - they can replace more or less what they like as dont suppose anyone at Motability actually checks up on whether new parts were fitted, or in fact really needed and as havent a clue what happens under the bonnet I always just take their word when they say something needed replacing.

The mind boggles Shocked putting in false invoices to Motability sounds just like the clowns in Parliament putting in bent expenses claims.

Does nobody signing the cheques do proper auditing.  When I managed finances at the University, department audits by independent auditors    was normal.  I was complimented by the auditor I got on how I tracked the finances with a smart spreadsheet I had devised.  Automatic summary of all the in goings and out goings that matched the paper work  Tongue

Just greedy some people.

Gerry you can't be sued for libel if it's true and another thing is if you ain't got any money, big companies going for a little bloke makes for bad press  laugh

Don't encourage me  Wink....I've always disliked Kwik Fit because of their tendency to extract as much money as possible from vulnerable customers.

Us Motability customers needn't worry directly because it doesn't affect us but car prices may increase as a direct result of fiddling.

It's all very hush hush at the moment....for instance....I can't find similar articles on the net.

Just found this wwhen scrolling through some of the posts made while I was in hospital.  I find it extraordinary that something like this could go on.  Like Pumpkin, I have always had very good service from Kwik-Fit and in addition to phoning Motability to get a job number/approval the mechanics have shown me the tyres that are required to be replaced.  I remember just after they were awarded the contract being astonished to be told by my servicing garage that they were unable to replace a worn tyre and that I would need to take it to Kwik-Fit to get it replaced - as if they were unable to replace a worn tyre.  Fortunately I only had to drive it about half a mile to get to the Kwik-Fit depot to get the job done.  The change from the bad old days when we were only entitled to four new tyres over the course of the contract to the current situation where tyres etc can be replaced as required has obviously made the possibility of this kind of behaviour more likely.  Not that I'd want a backward step, but maybe there's something to be said for limiting the number of 'free' tyres we can get during our contract if companies like Kwik-Fit are going to try and take advantage!
